Wow! Did you see the Oprah show today where the entire program was dedicated to The Secret?
I have been getting a lot of emails and calls from friends and associates, so I thought I would open it up here on this *brand new* blog.
Several people have contacted me asking why the DVD isn't available at a deeper discount like most best-selling movies or books.
For example, Amazon is selling the DVD for $29.95 which is only a 14% discount. That is way higher than most DVDs they sell (which are usually discounted at least 30%.)
However, this isn't the case with the book which is being distributed thru regular book distribution channels. (Amazon is selling the hardcover book at a 40% discount.)
Why not discount the DVD?
Some have suggested that there is some price-fixing going on. Others have told me that they think that Rhonda's company in Australia has gotten greedy and want to control distribution and not go thru regular distribution channels. (More traditional video distribution would remove the control from the production company to a major studio distributor.)

Besides the actual DVD and books, lets talk Oprah...
If you saw Oprah today, what did you think? Do you think the teachers she selected to appear were the most appropriate ones? Did they do a good job of explaining the law of attraction? Are there other teachers from the film that you think should have been included?
What is the impact of Oprah presenting this subject to such a large (and loyal) television audience?

i missed the first 30 minutes of oprah's show on the The Secret so i am not aware of the "fishy discounting."
i found it interesting that oprah said [now] everyone will want to see the DVD now that they've heard about it on her show - because ellen had 2 of the producers of The Secret on her show a couple of months ago and i heard about this over a year ago - years after i first learned of The Law of Attraction, Living With Intention and Creating My Own Reality. I love to see people come into universal consciousness right before my eyes and ears.
At any rate, i'm delighted mainstream media is reaching billions of people whose lives will be profoundly changed by The Secret.

I think the Oprah show went pretty well. There really wasn't enough time in one show to have all the teachers.Between the Ellen show and now Oprah it's great exposure for the secret. It truely is a way of life that does work I think the price is not important it's a small price to pay for betterment of your self isn't it?

I was delighted that Oprah finally aired a show on The Secret following the lead of Larry King, Ellen and the growing publicity of The Secret. I am delighted too that in so doing it is filtering more and more into mainstream awareness. However, I was disappointed that most of the focus was on ego related topics such as weight, finances and sex. The Law of Attraction is so powerful when focused on eliminating illness, overcoming dis-ease and recovery from injury as The Secret itself shows, not to mention finding peace and harmony individually as well as healing our ailing planet. I was thrilled that Oprah was airing a show on the subject of LOA featuring The Secret and high profile speakers, however, I was disappointed to see where the focus of this was placed.
I agree--I think that price doesn't matter on something this important. The distribution, however, is important because I would love to see the DVD everywhere--from Target to Borders to Costco to the local hair salon. The more people who see the DVD, the more planetary consciousness shifts, the better. I am so happy that Oprah is sharing this with her audience.

I haven't seen the Secret yet, but intend to once the Spiritual Cinema people send it to me. (They seem to be dragging their feet. I ordered it in early December, and again at the end of January. Still no sign of it.)
Suggestion for your show: How about interviewing Esther and Jerry Hicks on the same topic of the Law of Attraction? I'm sure you're heard of them and the so-called "Teachings of Abraham." They've got CDs, tapes, and a book on the topic. I find it fascinating and very helpful -- and real. This mind-body stuff really works!
Is what Rhonda's doing the same thing? In her interview, she mentions quantum physics, and you mention What the Bleep. It's all very...Chopraesque. The Hicks stay away from that. I wonder why. Different audience? More mass market orientation?
I saw your list of guests for the past year or so. How did you sell your show to your radio station, or did it develop over time? I live on Cape Cod (within radio range of Boston) and think a show like yours would attract a wide listening audience. Maybe I'll propose one of my own. What do you think? All this is really fascinating because it seems like what Marilyn Ferguson was writing about in her book The Age of Aquarius back in the early 70s is starting to become real. There is a paradigm shift going on. We're in the middle of it. Not to get political about it, but maybe George W Bush is the old paradigm's last gasp...one can only hope.

I think it is Wonderful that so many people are becoming aware of the Law of Attration. The more people that are aware of it, the more consiousness will shift. The cost of the DVD is irrelavent.
I don't think they are getting greedy. I e-mailed The Secret Website because I needed the movie on VHS for my mother who won't get her DVD player hooked up, and they e-mailed me back telling me to go to a place to get it copied!!!
The cost doesn't matter. The important thing is the public awareness. It will change the World. How Exciting!!!
I never saw Ellen's show. It's great that she had it on, but I believe Oprah will be able to reach even more people.
Yes it's sad that the show focused a little more on material things and weight issues or sex, but unfortunatly, main stream America seems to be focused on these things. But, when they are finally exposed to the Secret, perhaps their focus will begin to change! Those who are ready for it, have attrated it into their lives! It's Fantastic!!! I heard 5 more DVD's are coming out....Imagine That!!! It's Happening people!!!
The hour flew by on Oprah's show. And I would have liked to see all of the teachers on the panel. But even if all of them were there, there wasn't enough time to get deep enough into it. I am just so glad and appreciative that people have now heard about it,
Let's all just feel the wonder of the shift in consiousness that is begining to take place NOW!!!!!

the secret is a piece of s*#t... everything they speak of is A: not a secret and B: is complete dribble compared to true esoteric knowledge which leads to liberation and c: DRIVEN BY FEAR AS THE NEED TO "HAVE" X... to make your theoretical life better is diametrically opposed to the nature of enlightenment.. THE SECRET WILL NOT LEAD TO AN AWAKENING ONLY A GREATER OBSERVANCE OF SYNCHRONICITY IN THE LIVES OF THE MEDIOCRE MASSES.

I concratulate The Secret and its founder. However, I feel too much emphasis was placed on materialism. Big cars, lots of money, big houses. I feel the intentions should have bee eco friendly, water cars, eco houses, sharing money, helping Africa, Darfur, healing the wars in Iraq, The mIddle East, stopping pollution and so on. Again the right principle inadequately applied. Again a Great Idea needs reapplying. Dr Geoff Freed
As far as "price fixing" etc. Rhonda Byrne can charge whatever she likes. We live in a system of free enterprise and so what if she is making millions, she has an interesting product. She also has offered it at a very inexpensive price downloaded from the internet. I read on her site that if churches and organizations show it there is to be no fee to the public. It doesn't get much better than that.
As far as the content concentrating on material things, what better way to get attention than to mention money, cars, homes, etc. Look at every women's magazine and on the cover will be something about weight loss. This gets peoples attention. As people apply "the secret" in their lives I think they will begin to understand the "thought" process and it will have a trickle down effect in other areas of their lives.
What I love about the art of attraction is that is causes no harm to anyone, my gain is not some else's loss, the benefits to your own spirituality and growth are unlimited and what's wrong with trying to think positive all the time. The Secret has brought so much peace and calm into my life just with my general attitude being shifted, I do not focus on anything negative anymore. I haven't had a million dollars fall into my lap or the new house, etc, but I sleep better at night and I am happier during the day. I am putting out what I am getting back, which is kindness, a love for life and good vibrations to everyone around me and I have noticed a marked difference in how people react to me…..it's been all positive.
My favorite part is the gratitude, to be happy with what you have right now was a real mind opener. I now am so grateful for everything I have in my life. I truly live in the Now.
(There will always be naysayers and it won't work for them, although they don't realize that their very own thoughts and actions are preventing the positive from coming into their lives. I feel bad for them, for they truly are missing out.)
The show went as well as it could have for only having an hour to explain what the secret is all about. The teachers were great! They pulled you into the T.V. set with all their energy!!
Now as far as the comment from John Robidean over pricing the DVD to profit the producers of the secret is just STUPID!! The secret was made to help people. In fact I'm sure it was a vision of Ms. Byrne's to produce the secret and to be able to share it with others. She probably had a vision board also!! So why not let her live her dream. She earned it and she deserves it. We don't go around discounting "HELP BOOKS" that we purchase to help us grow into a better person do we? NO!! We buy the book, we read it and hopefully we learn from it. The secret DVD is the same principal. So Mr. Robidean I think you should concentrate on being more positive, because if you are practicing the law of attraction you better watch out....

I don't know why the discounting might be fishy. As far as I am aware, the DVD is available for about $30 no matter where. I suspect that, now that it's been on Oprah, the publishers will be able to distribute through broader channels soon and thereby make it less expensive.
I was so excited and thrilled to see that discussed on Oprah. I do think the panel was very well chosen. The energy of the presentation was excellent and the coverage on the topic was very good.
I thought it was fishy that the show was interrupted by the announcement of the death of A.N. Smith. I found that very unnecessary and disappointing.
Something so nourishing to the spirit was interrupted by media hype, gossip and negativity. I can't imagine that anybody was helped by that special report.
It any case, Bless Oprah for bringing this great show to the main-stream.
It opens doors for all. Not only for those who are new to those concepts, but also for all of us who have been practicing them for many years.

I still see people who are looking for faults and compalaining. (I realise I have done this by saying what I just said, yet, I had to respond.)
Take the teachings and find the good and STOP living in the past and worrying about the future.
BE PRESENT and look for the positives.
It is too easy to get into bad habit's and preconcieved notions and perceptions.
Let the price be whatever it is. Who cares about % discounts? It is not important. Is it really that important? Must there be a whole underground black market to gouge and price fix what the public wants and desires? Are the SECRET makers the devil incarnate trying to steal everyones money? Come on, get it together!
Production, supply and demand, is what drives the supply chain. We received our first copy a week after ordering. Second copy for my dad took a month. Let the universe deal and decide things. Look for the beauty and be happy with what you have. "You don't know what you got till you loose it". (Phil Collins.)
